Yoshihiro Deguchi received his BE, ME, and DE degrees from Toyohashi University of Technology in 1985, 1987, and 1990, respectively, and after obtaining his DE, he worked for 20 years as a research engineer in the field of applied physics at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. He has been involved in the development of laser diagnostic methods such as tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy, laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy, laser-induced fluorescence, and laser Raman spectroscopy, and has applied these technologies to industrial fields such as DX (Digital Transformation) and Digital Twin. In 2010, he joined Tokushima University as a full-time professor. He is one of the leading engineers in the practical application of laser diagnostics, especially for industrial systems. In addition to his research activities, he has also encouraged the use of intellectual property. He is a qualified patent attorney and professional engineer, and has been involved in an educational project at Tokushima University to motivate students to invent.
